Corporations & Groups

Research has shown, time and time again, that humor and play are strongly linked to peak performance and productivity, and enhance any learning experience. High morale, engagement and creativity aren't just "nice" or "trendy" to have in business - they're essential - that is, provided you want a workforce that is motivated toward the highest levels possible.

We also now know, through study after study, that organizations which value the ideas and contributions of employees are more profitable, period. Improv shows all participants how to bravely trust the quality and validity of their own ideas, and the ideas of co-workers. People don't have time to censor themselves when they have to think on their feet. Ideas flow from their source without self-criticism or criticism from others getting in the way.

Improvisation
Improv is creating something from nothing; creating ideas and actions in the moment - total spontaneity. Improv is discovering the unexpected, changing the known into the unknown. Improv challenges us to step out of our daily, conscious, routine patterns and into new ways of creating and perceiving. Improv trains groups of people to communicate more effectively and to become more creative, both individually and collectively. It trains all participants to respond intuitively and inventively to one another and their environment.

Improv uses techniques that enable you to cooperate, communicate clearly and solve problems quickly. I have adapted these techniques to make them more applicable to anyone working in the corporate or non-profit world today. I will provide an environment in which participants are encouraged to take risks, be bold, and make discoveries. These insights will stay with the group long after the workshops.

Improv is not about being an expert comedian or a brilliant actor. I provide the improv confidence and expertise, and through Improvabilities games & exercises, I will provide you the tools to put Improv skills within anyone's grasp. I will show participants how to link together ideas to create what no one individual could do alone.

Improve with Improv
To some, performing of any kind can be terrifying - I will make it safe, easy and FUN by removing the anxiety. Your employees/staff/managers will succeed. With Andy.s Improvabilities, they will "improve with Improv".

In Andy's Improvabilities, participants won't yawn, lose interest, wish they were elsewhere, waste time, space out. Participants will have a great time, develop new skills, connect and bond with each other, laugh, play, be inspired, energetic, imaginative and creative. Doesn't that sound a whole lot better than another Power Point show or lecture?

Peak Listening
Listen, Accept, Initiate, and Contribute - these are the four principal elements of Improv, and of all effective communication. Optimizing these elements in your organization can boost its company's creativity, teamwork and customer service.

People in the workplace need to learn to open themselves up to any new idea fully, patiently and accurately. This is "Peak Listening", and will significantly enhance workplace communication. True listening can be learned through collaborative, interactive Improv games & exercises. Andy's Improvabilities will help your team escape linear thinking patterns, refresh forgotten ideas, and transform meetings, training sessions, brainstorming, inter-departmental communication, and solution-finding.

Teambuilding
Mention "teambuilding", and most employees groan. But when employees, staff and management enjoy teambuilding, they naturally want to contribute more. The group that plays together, stays together! Laughter relieves tension and stress, and makes the team-building process FUN. Learn to use Improv to create a collaborative team environment where people are motivated and ready to contribute. Learn to maximize the positive physical, emotional and psychological benefits of laughter and humor.

An Improvabilities workshop will ask all participants to let go of self-imposed organizational barriers such as status and longevity. Research shows that organizations that value the ideas and contributions of employees are more successful in achieving their goals, with greater productivity and significantly less employee burnout and turnover. Improvabilities will show all participants how to bravely trust the quality and validity of their own ideas, and the ideas of others. When they have to "think on their feet", people don't have time to censor themselves. Ideas flow from their source without self-criticism or criticism from others getting in the way.

Workshops for Corporations/Organizations/Groups
Positive results in any organization come from sharing new ideas, building upon them, and applying them to meet specific objectives. Yet invariably road blocks present themselves that prevent you or members of your team from reaching those objectives.

That's why Improv as a learning tool is on the rise. In Andy's Improvabilities workshop, participants utilize proven Improvisation techniques in a positive, stress-free, non-judgmental environment. Dr. Joel Goodman of the Humor Project states, "Besides making you feel better, the use of Humor can be a major tool for insight, what I call changing 'haha' to 'aha'!"

Beginning with relaxation and trust-building warm-ups and exercises, participants are encouraged to explore the fundamentals of Improv in group games and scene work. Working together as a group, they learn to accept the challenge of approaching ideas from different viewpoints, to cooperate with their colleagues, and to embrace that spark of creativity and spontaneity inside of them…all with new-found energy…and they have FUN while doing it! Available in one hour, two-hour, or intensive half-day sessions.
