As listed in the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES Arts in Education Resource Directory, 2003-04* Andy's Improvabilities enables students to achieve progress in meeting the learning objectives of the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts. These guidelines refer to "Creating, Performing and Participating in the Arts." Trusting your own instincts is integral to successful learning. Julia Cameron, author of "The Artist's Way", writes, "A sense of creativity and fun is the key to breakthrough thinking and innovative solutions." Improv facilitates learning to trust your own instincts by training players to be in the moment. Players will also learn to give and receive ideas in an accepting way, thus building agreement.
Improvabilities is a program proven successful to:
*Enhance communication skills | *Increase self-confidence |
*Boost self-esteem | *Promote team-building skills |
*Sharpen performance skills | *Manage conflict |
*Build presentation skills | *Build public-speaking skills |
Andy will engage your students, ages 8 and up, in interactive Improv exercises and games in a warm, open, encouraging atmosphere. Children will work together to learn how to perform spontaneously. While learning to "think on their feet" students become innovative problem solvers. Improvabilities is available in a 45 minute to one hour format, one time or as a series of workshops which will spark students' creativity and imagination as learning tools in an in-depth, FUN way.
