Improvisation Workshops for Schools - Teaching New Ways to Learn
As listed in the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES Arts in Education Resource Directory, 2003-04 Andy's Improvabilities enables students to achieve progress in meeting the learning objectives of the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts. These guidelines refer to "Creating, Performing and Participating in the Arts." Trusting your own instincts is integral to successful learning. Julia Cameron, author of "The Artist's Way", writes, "A sense of creativity and fun is the key to breakthrough thinking and innovative solutions." Improv facilitates learning to trust your own instincts by training players to be in the moment. Players will also learn to give and receive ideas in an accepting way, thus building agreement.

Improvabilities is a program proven successful to:
*Enhance communication skills
*Increase self-confidence
*Boost self-esteem
*Promote team-building skills
*Sharpen performance skills
*Manage conflict
*Build presentation skills
*Build public-speaking skills
Andy will engage your students, ages 8 and up, in interactive Improv exercises and games in a warm, open, encouraging atmosphere. Children will work together to learn how to perform spontaneously. While learning to "think on their feet" students become innovative problem solvers. Improvabilities is available in a 45 minute to one hour format, one time or as a series of workshops which will spark students' creativity and imagination as learning tools in an in-depth, FUN way.

Workshops for Teacher Staff Development
Andy will show through interactive participation, how to utilize and incorporate simple Improv games and exercises into the curriculum in order to stimulate students' creativity and spark their imaginations. Improv promotes active participation in the learning process. For more complete information on the benefits to be achieved and the skills to be developed, see the section on school workshops. Available in one hour, two hour or half-day sessions.

Workshops for Corporations/Organizations/Groups
Positive results in any organization come from sharing new ideas, building upon them, and applying them to meet specific objectives. Yet invariably road blocks present themselves that prevent you or members of your team from reaching those objectives.

That's why Improv as a learning tool is on the rise. In Andy's Improvabilities workshop, participants utilize proven Improvisation techniques in a positive, stress-free, non-judgmental environment. Dr. Joel Goodman of the Humor Project states, "Besides making you feel better, the use of Humor can be a major tool for insight, what I call changing 'haha' to 'aha'!"

Beginning with relaxation and trust-building warm-ups and exercises, participants are encouraged to explore the fundamentals of Improv in group games and scene work. Working together as a group, they learn to accept the challenge of approaching ideas from different viewpoints, to cooperate with their colleagues, and to embrace that spark of creativity and spontaneity inside of them…all with new-found energy…and they have FUN while doing it! Available in one hour, two-hour, or intensive half-day sessions.

Andy's Improvabilities Workshops Will Help Develop These Skills:
*Enhance Communication Skills
*Build Positive Group Dynamics
*Support Team Cooperation and Trust
*Promote Innovative Problem Solving
*Increase Willingness to Take Risks
*Strengthen Listening Skills
*Reduce Stress
